Hungarian State Folk Ensemble
The Hungarian National Folk Ensemble is one of the most famous Hungarian folk groups. It was established in 1951 to introduce the music, dance, and clothing of Hungary to the world. Since its creation, the ensemble has fulfilled its original mission: to revive and bring to the state Hungary's rich cultural heritage.
The Hungarian State Folk Ensemble has a good and varied repertoire which is why it is one of the most popular groups abroad.
Over the last 50 years, the Hungarian State Folk Ensemble has traveled to over 44 countries in four continents. Lately, the group has had enormous success in the United States and the Far East.
The Ensemble
The group is made up of 34 dancers, a Gypsy orchestra with 14 musicians, and a folk orchestra with 5 musicians. It has a diverse repertoire of dances and traditional choreographies that are several centuries old originally from various villages all over Hungary.
The folk orchestra plays traditional instruments, while the Gypsy orchestra, not only accompanies the dancers but plays its own songs. The Gypsy orchestra's repertoire includes Hungarian music and international classics like Liszt, Bartók, Kodály, and Brahms.
Schedule
At 8 pm. The performance has two parts, each lasting 45 minutes with an intermission.
